Ian Smith Building Contractors are an established company, founded in 1978 by Ian Smith. We operate out of our base in Arbroath and provide our clients with traditional building skills and quality workmanship.

With a capability of main contractor status, using our extensive facilities and plant, we are able to provide an all trades service from concept to completion with a design team included if required.

Private Housing - Extensions

Whether your choice is new build, traditional construction or timber kit, renovations or extensions, we are able to provide an all inclusive service to the home owner giving them guaranteed peace of mind.

Over the years we have worked with Housing Associations and Local Authorities throughout Angus and Tayside, having handled a variety of work, including new build projects, refurbishments and renovations.

Stone Masonry

The traditional craft of stone masonry is actively continued by our skilled craftsmen, with their ability they have handled numerous projects ranging from listed buildings, new masonry projects to masonry rejuvenation.
